We're back!

It's good to be back. After a few weeks of silence, the team is back at it. Despite some troublesome theme issues, that are almost eliminated, we have returned. There's nothing more to report on this end, so we'll leave you with some excerpts from classics, such as best selling Lorem Ipsum: "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consetetur sadipscing elitr, sed diam nonumy eirmod tempor invidunt ut labore et dolore magna aliquyam erat, sed diam voluptua. At vero eos et accusam et justo duo dolores et ea rebum. Stet clita kasd gubergren, no sea takimata sanctus est." Read More →

Another Angry Blog, Or is it?

You may have noticed our newest friend on the internet. Who is he? Is it another rant blog? Does he have balls or just another faker? To be honest, he has balls. Too much infact. So why is this blog different? Well it's the first blog on the planet not written by a human being. That's right, it's written by a chemical in humans called Testosterone. All things aside, he's an old friend and he's angry, which is good? We don't know. You be the judge, oh and some stuff, yeah may be a little NSFW. Visit the site →

USB Panic Button (HACKED!)

article by admin On Saturday, May 31, 2008 View Comments

Thanks to good old alacarte I became the owner of a brand new USB Panic Button! Now this thing doesn't really do much, as all it does is sit on my table next to my monitor serving absolutely no purpose. Well... that is until the Russians attack.

It's a great novelty item and it looks pretty damn cool. An emergency button encased in a flip-openable glass-like shielding and a black and yellow stripped overcoat of stickers connected to your computer. O the possibilities!

One press and you can begin the missile campaign, or send orders to troops stationed in the eastern theatre, or (insert 24 reference of choice). Unfortunately the bundled software on CD (which comes with no installer, I might add) provides the user with the ability to choose any jpg file that will popup while gaming, YouTubing, or google images
surfing if the boss or teacher were to enter the scene. Obviously having a button the size of a small mouse isn't very discreet. And depending on the game and system the picture won't load as instantaneously as a jab at Alt+Tab. So what does this 0-axis 1 button like game controller have to offer?

Well being who I am and unhappy with what ever state my computer is in, I decided it was time to hack this thing. I consulted alacarte who came over to my place and we started sniffing USB ports, so to speak. Which left us with a little bit more understanding on how the button worked but no idea how to access the events.

Having been deprived of Visual Basic, the language I was literally born into and raised by, I had no way of easily hacking this. Luckily I found the installer yesterday and cut half an hour of driving lessons just to install the old development environment. I did a bit of research on how to steal windows handles. And finally hacked it by 5pm last night.

Now... when I press the Panic Button my computer invokes Task Manager. I mean think about it. Pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del in fury isn't as fun as flipping open a cover to punch an large red emergency button.

Other stuff I have made it do is: hibernate the computer, force a shutdown, time a shutdown, play a sound. But obviously you can have full control over it and make it do whatever.

Note: in trying to create a distributable product, I ran into a few too many setbacks and never had the time. Fortunately, a couple readers are sharing theirs. Thanks Jesse and John.

Microsoft ActiveSync just did the dumbest thing.

For those who don't know, ActiveSync is the software used to synchronize data between Windows Mobile phones and computers, usually for backing up. And this morning, I did exactly that with my HTC Touch and my desktop computer.

Except the desktop computer had never been synced before, and my HTC still had two active sync relationships - my Thinkpad and my Asus laptop - and it would not allow me to sync unless I got rid of one. Since I don't really use the Asus that often now, I decided to remove that relationship to free a slot up for my desktop.

Bad move.

In its infinite wisdom, ActiveSync decided that the newer sync information was the, ahem, non existent information on my computer rather than the actual information on my phone. In other words, it thought that I had recently disconnected myself from the entire world and had deleted all my contacts, appointments and tasks in a fit of sorrow and injustice, but forgot to do the same for my phone.

In other words, it is a freaking idiot.

So now I have no contacts, no appointments and no task list.

I swore profusely for about three minutes straight. I am dead serious. The contacts I can restore, since I have a backup from last year (so I hope I didn't make any friends in the last six months). The appointments are no big deal, since I'm not itching to attend appointments in the past and I already called up work to get my shifts back.

Its the task list I'm annoyed about. There was something in there that was unrecoverable. There's only one person who knows what it is, and I guess now no one else will know.

But hey, maybe in a weird way this is a sign.

You probably will never know what that means. :)

Language Support on kbabslive

article by admin On Tuesday, May 20, 2008 View Comments

Following alacarte's almost alliterative interest in internet insanity, I added some new translation services for this blog. All the listed languages are powered by Google and give very rough translations that aren't actually that bad. I added two new ones "Gangsterize" and "Profanitize". Be sure to check them out.

The languages bar is at the bottom of the left part of the page.

Enjoy!

The sure fire way to screw up a mind

article by alacarte On Sunday, May 18, 2008 View Comments
I was originally debating posting either something about Microsoft Word, an installment of iWars or a piece of which I will not give any hints about. I was about to go with the last option... and then I found these.

But because I am such a nice guy, I will introduce you to them gently. All I will tell you now is that it involves... a clown. Feel free to skip to the last one now if you wish - hey, its your brain...

This first one here is just a small hint. Look at 0:52. A very very tiny hint.

Now this one is the closest I can get to showing you the full experience without declaring it mind-smashing is this.

Not put off yet? Step it up a notch. It's getting creepy.

And here it is. I warn you, do not even try to process every scene in this video. You can't. And by the way, its in a different language, but I suspect it would be worse if it was english as then you would try to understand it... and thus, screw up your mind even more!

I give no more descriptions now. Actually, one clue: Zoolander. Just watch it. Watch it all.

Now imagine the ultimate torture. Locked in a room, and being forced to watch that. Again and again. And listen to it. Again and again.

Understand the title yet? :D

Anyway, here's some brain recovery after all that!

(Also, this must be one of the most impressive things ever.)

P.S:
There are actually worse ones. Please, don't look for them.

With the release of the much anticipated GTAIV comes the onslaught of ignorant hysteria from commercially driven TV shows. Most current affairs and America news channels know they can get some good news happening by concerning parents or the average civilian with fears of terrorism or violence or what not. What most people forget is that GTA is actually a parody of life (and more interestingly of the Western stereotypical life - sex, guns and cars). Of course people would hate being tagged with that stereotype. Enough food for thought, here's a parody of a parody to quench your thirst for humour. But I'm not here to complain about the complainers today or even defend GTA. I am here however to express my disappointment in having to wait until October for the game to come out on PC. Shooting games are meant for PCs anyway. For those of us still stuck with GTA San Andreas and having finished the missions, explored every corner, perhaps sprayed all 100 tags, or collected all the horse shoes, there's nothing really much left of the game - is there? Untrue.

What you need, my friend, is to check out GTA SA Multiplayer!

Wait a minute! I don't remember a multiplayer feature in San Andreas! Well there originally wasn't any. The good thing about San Andreas Multiplayer (SAMP) is that you don't need to buy anything extra. You just install this program next to your existing GTA SA folder, find a server (there are plenty), then play. There are plenty of stunt maps, one of which I loved I can't find any more :( but it had ridiculous changes to the game with highways roads to the sky, floating platforms with more stunt props, you gotta see it to believe it.

obviously CJ's out, you can play as any character the server allows

the best part is that it's free for all. You can do what ever you want,
unless the admin kicks you out for breaking any rules they might have haha

as you can see there are plenty of places to play.
The internet tab will take ages to load.
Try official ones if you can't wait and remember to save
stuff to your favourites so you don't have to find it again later.

Stupid idiot with the hydra, they kept guarding the airport
this morning making sure noone else got another. I wouldn't
mind having an aerial dog fight with the cheat.

Quick Wrap-up
Maps are the same thing, additional changes such as stunt roads and props are sent by the server. And as always play responsibly (by not lagging! argh). Oh and btw, some of the screenshots have windows in the background; the game IS fullscreen, I was just dodgy with the screenshot pasting :D

Game Help
In the game go to the console, type /help or /commands to see what you can do!
To reset the character in the game, hit F4 and /kill to choose and respawn.
Note that going into the map does not stop the game play

San Andreas Multiplayer Mod (Windows) (site|download-client|server-files)

A simple problem that you might face is it doesn't work lol. To fix that common error, find your "gta_sa.exe" in your GTA SA installation folder and open it's properties then get to Compatibility. Choose "Windows 98/ME" then OK and try again.

The gall, oh the effing gall...

article by alacarte On Saturday, May 03, 2008 View Comments
I am angry.

I waited two and a half weeks for two sticks of 512MB Notebook SDRAM to ship from *apparently* the UK (I didn't know that the UK wrote postscripts in German).

And they're both DOA. Dead On Arrival.

F-ing oath.

I usually would not be annoyed. But I am because:

1. I know it will take another month and $15 to get a replacement or refund. Because I bought a SD card from the dude before, and that is exactly what happened.

2. I read probably a billion internet posts hating this guy, yet I still bought something from him. Annoyed because 1. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, which was betrayed and 2. I didn't listen to the internets.

So now I have two dead sticks of RAM which I paid 70-something bucks for, and which now I really don't want because they look shifty enough even while not working.

Bah.

Oh, and so you know that I'm not just being a pissy, moany bastard, click here!
